There are many factors that impact our children’s development, but none so powerful and their relationships with their parents. More than ever, parents are aware of their role in their children’s development, supporting an entire industry of books on parenting. While the advice in these books is often helpful, generically speaking, it cannot understand the context in which your parenting is unfolding. Our homes are fragile ecosystems that can fall out of balance with disruptions like a death in the family, transitioning to a new school, or moving to a new home. Furthermore, becoming a parent can trigger unresolved issues in parents that may be related to their own childhoods. Our parent coaching focuses on guiding parents in a dance with their children– one that is both dynamic and firm– that provides the needed boundaries and predictability that children thrive upon, while also respecting their neurological and temperamental differences. Parent coaching is generally provided in-person and in real-time– either along the therapist or with a bug-in-ear device from a separate room. Parent coaching is also available through teletherapy. In order to begin parent coaching, an evaluation for baseline interaction between parent(s)-child is necessary.

Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) is available with our Clinic Director, Vanessa Vega.
